MEET THE ARTISTS
Steven Antonelli is a New York-based multi-instrumentalist and composer. He’s recorded and performed with composer Glenn Branca, scored for playwright John Jesurun, and toured France as a guitarist with choreographer Karole Armitage. Steven also produced over 100 concerts as a curator for the legendary La MaMa ETC Theater. In November 2023, he released a double album featuring his orchestral work, titled "Everything Real Casts a Shadow.” He’s currently the Director of the New York Mandolin Ensemble, and a lead player for the New York Mandolin Orchestra, L'Esperance Mandolin Ensemble, and Country Mouse/City Mouse.
Gabrielle “Gabi” de Briey grew up in France, where she learned classical violin. Upon moving to the US, her musical interests expanded to include jazz, bluegrass and folk. Over the past several years, Gabi has been involved in a number of musical projects in New York, one of which led to a chance meeting with Steven and John. In Country Mouse/City Mouse, Gabi plays violin, bass, and guitar, alongside providing both lead and harmony vocals.
John Heller’s musical journey began at age 12 after attending a summer folk concert. He soon took up guitar and singing, and during his high school and college years, John performed both solo and in a trio with friends Larry Basil and the future actor & comedian Bill Murray. John and Larry reunited years later to perform for audiences in the Chicago area. In 2007, John began performing in California with another folk trio, The Fare Thee Wells. Currently, as a member of Country Mouse/ City Mouse, John is enjoying the opportunity to work with two talented musicians to explore and arrange songs from various genres, incorporating unique harmonies and instrumentation.
